ABUK Earthing & Lightning Protection

Earthing & Lightning Protection · West Africa

The soil at the coast eats copper.
We build the rod that stays down there.

Lagos and Port Harcourt both sit on the coast. In saline ground, an earth rod's service life is not decided by how bright it looks on delivery — it is decided by coating thickness, base material, and whether the clamp at the top corrodes first. ABUK supplies the whole earthing set — rods, clamps, tape, bars, pits — on one container, one bill of lading.

Product range

Five earthing families — specify once, ship once

Importers and wholesalers do not stock a rod — they stock a shelf. These five families cover the full path from air termination to soil, on one proforma invoice and one container.

Why stainless-cored rods

Not every earth rod belongs in coastal ground

A conventional copper-bonded rod has a low-carbon steel core. Once the coating is scored during driving, or breached in saline ground, the steel core starts to rust — and the expanding rust lifts the remaining copper off the rod. Failure starts at one point and runs the length of the bar.

ABUK's stainless-cored copper-plated range replaces that core with stainless steel — non-magnetic, marked along the body, with stainless instrument ends. Where the plating is damaged, the core itself does not join the corrosion chain. Sizes run from Ø11mm×4FT to Ø18mm×10FT, including double-threaded versions.

  • Specify by soil, not by priceSaline coastal ground, backfill and humus-rich soil each call for a different choice. Tell us the site and we will come back with a material and diameter recommendation.
  • Buy the clamp with the rodDissimilar metals pressed together in wet soil corrode galvanically. Matching the rod, clamp and tape as one material set costs less than the cheapest clamp does.
  • Leave an inspection pitEarth resistance has to be re-tested. Without a pit, every test means digging — the most common reason a contractor comes back with a complaint.
Solid copper earth rods

How we work

This site takes inquiries — it does not take orders

Our customers are importers, electrical wholesalers and contractors who buy by the container, not by the piece. Prices move with copper and with the load plan, so nothing is priced on this site. Send the list; we issue a formal quotation.

Need a quotation — or a spec check?

Send us the items, quantities and destination port. We reply within one working day with specification confirmation, carton quantities and container loading advice.
